Juvéderm Lip Augmentation
Juvéderm is a sterile pyrogen-free physiological solution of cross-linked hyaluronic acid which is not of animal origin. The gel is presented in a graduated, pre-filled, disposable syringe. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the lips is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the tissue by holding in water, giving the lips a fuller feel and look. Filler injections may be part of a comprehensive treatment plan including dental work and Botox. The treatment may require a series of injections over time to get the desired effect.

RISKS OF FILLER INJECTIONS

Aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, platelet inhibitors, anticoagulants, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba and other “herbs” may contribute to greater risk of a bleeding problem. Do NOT take any of these for seven days before or after filler injections.
- Swelling – swelling (edema) is a normal occurrence following the injections. It decreases after a few days. If swelling is slow to resolve, medical treatment may be necessary.
- Pain – Discomfort associated with injections is normal and usually of short duration.
- Other – There are other possible side effects related to filler injections that will be discussed at length at your consultation.
